Some people will tell you there is no such thing as a vegan. But good luck to that asshole getting a picnic spot at Abbotsford Convent this weekend on WORLD VEGAN DAY! It's going to be mayhem the likes of which ten-thousand pleather plimsolls have never seen. And at the heart of the madness will be Mister Nice Guy - Melbourne's first vegan cupcake bakery.
Liking the animal kingdom as much as they like cupcakes led husband and wife team Lucas Cook and Deb Kantor to embark on a pursuit of the world's best vegan cupcake recipe. And according to the taste test department in our studio (Nadia) they have found it.
They have twelve flagship flavours, from Mister Chocolate to Zombie Brains, and their vegan lab is releasing new varieties every month. Mister Nice Guy cupcakes are currently stocked at Lentil As Anything in Footscray, Real Foods Cafe at RMIT and the Empire Strikes Back cafe in Brunswick. You can also place orders 48 hours in advance, and they'll deliver free within 5km of the CBD.
